Content Strategist – NYC

Overview:  
As a content strategist, you will specialize in strategizing, creating, and producing new written content and platform ideas. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating editorial plans for target audiences curating and managing content within sponsored spreads, handling blog contributors, and communicating with brand partners about all aspects of the creative process. The Content Strategist will partner with other Marketing team members including the Digital Marketing Specialist regarding social media promotions and media campaigns.

Expectations:

  • Provide compelling ideas for branded content executions on both printed and digital collateral and campaigns
  • Create and write custom branded content that aligns with brand and project objectives that fit the need of Energy Focus’ target audiences
  • Participate in co-branding engagements with partners to communicate best practices for joint sponsored content while assessing program objectives and ensuring execution aligns with project objectives
  • Provide insight and recommendations to outside vendors regarding content creation and execution
  • Participate in client outreach, customer testimonial interviews, success story content mapping and creation in both digital and print collateral
  • Ensure all sponsored and collaborative content is delivered on time and represents the highest creative and editorial standards
  • Track success of joint campaigns, compile statistics, and provide recommendations for future programs
  • Write and edit press releases for new products, new partnerships, community engagement activities and corporate initiatives
  • Write and edit sales and marketing collateral, collaborating with marketing, product and sales teams
  • Conceptualize industry-leading messaging and work in partnership with marketing colleagues to develop and reinforce the brand
  • Conduct research to gain an understanding of the product, brand and customer to ensure that creative concepts, strategies and copy are on tone and brand appropriate
  • Research and maintain a level of insight on the competition to best stay on top of market and product trends
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in copywriting, editing and proofreading skills with demonstrated experience in marketing, PR, advertising, brand messaging and promotional copy
  • Proven ability to original work and develop ideas around chosen themes while ensuring material is creative and engaging
  • Develops unique, new concepts that are on point with the brand and brand tone
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems
  • Experience with Social Media, SEO, and HTML
  • Strong copy development acumen: proper tone, feeling, sentence structure and emotion
  • Ability to interact with various clients to draw out the essence of a story
  • Insatiable appetite for content creation, advertising, and internet culture
  • A demonstrated interest in technology, environment, and human impact
  • Possesses outstanding written, editorial and communication skills
  • Demonstrates an ability to write clear and persuasive material for websites, brochures, ads, and other means of advertising
  • A portfolio will be required.
