Energy Focus Expects Strong Growth for its Military Business for 2014
SOLON, Ohio, February 4, 2014 — Energy Focus, Inc. (OTCQB:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies, today announced the Company’s military business has been awarded $2.0 million in orders in January 2014. The accumulated orders thus far this year represent more than 50% growth for the business over the whole year of 2013.
The new orders consist of a wide range of Energy Focus LED US Navy products including LED retrofit tubes, LED berth lights and LED Globes. These products will be shipped to various naval yards in United States for use on multiple ships replacing current fluorescent and incandescent technologies, resulting in significantly lower maintenance and energy costs for the US Navy.
“The substantial backlog growth we are experiencing so far in 2014 is a direct result of our dramatically enhanced sales effort over the past six months,” said Eric Hilliard, President of Energy Focus. “And an important element of that sales effort has been the addition of 15 product representatives to our sales network. The Navy clearly needs and wants the benefits of reduced energy usage and lower maintenance costs Energy Focus’ LED products can provide. Our growing rep network is creating and spreading that awareness at the individual ship level which, in turn, is contributing to a marked increase in our new orders.”
”We are excited to see such a strong booking in our military business at the start of 2014,” said James Tu, Executive Chairman of Energy Focus. “We have radically realigned our organization during the second half of 2013 to pursue a clear vision toward becoming the trusted LED lighting retrofit leader in the military, ESCO and commercial lighting markets. We are now starting to witness increasing pipeline momentum in all three markets. The steep order growth in our military business, in particular, is an early indication that our sharp market focus coupled with industry leading product offering and intensive sales drive are setting the “New” Energy Focus on a path towards sustainable and significant growth.”
