Client Development Executive


The Client Development Executive defines and executes the company’s strategies within the business segment.  Leads the company’s efforts to develop, foster, maintain, and expand relationships within a targeted geography.  The Client Development Executive strategically sells the company’s LED lighting solutions in support of the overall goals and objectives of the organization.  The focus of this position is to dominate the various vertical market space such as hospitals, industrial, and higher learning institutions in the retro-fit of all commercial buildings throughout the U.S. with our superior LED replacement products.


  • Execute the sales strategy/plan that identifies areas of growth potential including identification, qualification, proposal development, proposal delivery, negotiation, and sustainability
  • Achieve and exceed profitable sales revenue objective
  • Interface with all levels of client and customer management for purposes of consultation, negotiation, advancement, and facilitation of strategic sales experiences
  • Collaborate in customer facing activities that include interaction with existing customers, new business development, and others
  • Maintain awareness of industry, competition, and market conditions and leverage current client relationships to develop new business opportunities
  • Lead solutions development and collaborate in the presentation of credible solutions to key decision makers who are typically at the C suite level
  • Maintain a contact database of all customer’s contacts and decision-makers who would specify and procure EFOI product lines in Salesforce
  • Exhibit knowledge of all Energy Focus Inc. products and communicate relevant product, pricing, cost savings and other pertinent product details
  • Develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives and adjusting those proposals as needed
  • Collaborate and assist in the development of marketing materials geared towards targeted professionals
  • Close profitable sales opportunities that ensure success and meet the needs of our clients and the company


  • 5+ years or more of related experience in marketing and sales in related industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or other related field is strongly preferred
  • Experience selling to the decision-making level of the company’s existing and potential customer base preferred
  • Energy conservation minded
  • High sense of urgency and accountability
  • Strong business acumen and mathematical aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal, influence, and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly developed detail and organization skills; honed follow-up and time management skills
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to assimilate and learn very efficiently and to focus successfully on multiple priorities
  • Application of a common-sense approach and ease in identifying issues and suggesting practical solutions.  Good analytical skills and abilities

  • Cost-justification selling approach.  Ability to tenaciously endure a long sales cycle and manage multiple accounts
  • High technical proficiency; intermediate experience using SalesForce.com; Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
  • A high level of trustworthiness and demonstrated integrity
  • Clear and articulate verbal and written communication skills
